common causes and how we treat it.
Head, Neck & Jaw
Neck pain and headaches are often caused by poor posture, screen time, or stress-related clenching. Tension builds in the upper trapezius, levator scapulae, and suboccipital muscles, leading to referred pain into the temples and behind the eyes.
Shoulders
Shoulder tension can come from repetitive overhead movements, poor desk ergonomics, or compensating for injuries elsewhere. The rotator cuff, deltoids, and upper traps are common culprits. Left untreated, shoulder tension often leads to restricted range of motion and referred pain down the arm.
Upper Back
Tightness between the shoulder blades is one of the most common complaints. It’s usually driven by rounded posture, long hours at a desk, or holding children. The rhomboids, mid-traps, and thoracic spine get locked up, creating a dull ache that won’t shift on its own.
Lower Back
Lower back pain affects most adults at some point. Common causes include tight hip flexors from sitting, weak glutes, poor lifting technique, or disc-related issues. Remedial massage targets the quadratus lumborum, erector spinae, and surrounding muscles to reduce pain and restore function.
Hips & Glutes
Hip tightness and glute pain are often linked to prolonged sitting, overtraining, or biomechanical imbalances. The piriformis, hip flexors, and gluteal muscles can refer pain down the leg (sometimes mistaken for sciatica). Targeted treatment can make a dramatic difference.
Legs & Thighs
Hamstring tightness, quad strain, IT band issues, and calf cramps are common in active people. These muscles take a beating during training and can develop trigger points and adhesions that limit performance and increase injury risk. Regular treatment keeps you moving freely.
Feet & Ankles
Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tightness, and general foot pain often stem from overuse, poor footwear, or tight calves pulling on the foot. Targeted massage of the plantar fascia, calf complex, and ankle stabilisers can relieve pain and prevent it from coming back.
